Improve Safety
De-risk your cleaning operations to promote a healthier, safer work environment for all your employees.
For years the Process and Parts Cleaning industry has relied heavily on hydrocarbon solvents, caustic substances and heated detergents. As the world strives to become carbon neutral these practices are at odds with corporate values of employee safety and sustainability and cannot continue.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are a hazardous waste product of traditional solvent cleaning. Safe Solvents is committed to eliminating them.
A Circular Economy is one designed without excess and pollution. Products are retained, materials are reused, and waste is eliminated. Safe Solvents is committed to this philosophy.
"Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it is merely transferred". Safe Solvents is dedicated to helping you transfer your energy usage into forms that will generate productivity.
Benefits of Reducing VOCs
VOCs, are a class of chemical that emit gasses at low temperatures. Some are more toxic than others, but as a general rule those emitted by traditional solvents have hazardous properties.
As a result of this, governments around the world maintain stringent regulations and tariffs that businesses need to adhere to. These cover measuring, reducing and preventing emissions of harmful VOCs.
They’re a danger to individual health: Public Health England has determined VOCs can cause irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract, allergies and asthma, central nervous system symptoms, liver and kidney damage, and can cause cancer.
They have a negative impact on the environment: Defra have concluded that VOC emissions act as potent greenhouse gases, interfering with the earth’s radiation budget and driving climate change.
They’re a fire hazard: In enclosed spaces and at low concentrations, VOCs are flammable and strict controls need to be maintained to prevent those concentrations being reached.
Ambimization® has a multitude of properties that can help you reduce the emissions of VOCs in your business:
Our fluids contain less VOCs than alternatives – just 6.5% compared to 70% to 90%.
Ambimization® takes place at room temperature, meaning less chance for off-gassing to take place
Improved cleaning and reusability mean less fluid needs to be used than alternatives, proportionally reducing the amount of VOCs present in the cleaning process
Moving towards a circular economy
Compare this to traditional, solvent based industrial cleaning. Toxic chemicals are combined with large amounts of water (and often heated) to create a cleaning solution that binds with the contaminant, forming a toxic mess that must be carefully disposed of. Worse still, the clean quality is often poor meaning many tools and equipment are used for a limited time before being thrown away. This take-make-waste approach to cleaning must now change as the world focuses on a more sustainable existence.
Ambimization® brings a new paradigm to industrial cleaning, by being both circular itself and enabling partners to embed a more circular approach in their systems and technologies.
Ambimization® water-based fluids are functional at room temperature (no energy wasted on heating), recyclable (keeping them in use for longer) and less hazardous (spent fluid can be released back into the environment without negatively impacting the hydrologic cycle).
Ambimization® allows for assets to be reused (e.g. resin applicators, paint vats) rather than disposed of to landfill. Machinery can be reused more quickly and effectively, meaning that less hours are wasted on cleaning and less machinery is needed in the first place.
Ambimization® helps businesses enjoy the benefits of enhancing safety, minimising waste and keeping assets in use for longer.
Ambimization® allows businesses to meaningfully reduce energy requirements within their cleaning operations. The technology’s ability to work to a high standard, at ambient temperature, drawing only minimal energy needed to agitate any contamination, enables Ambimization® to reduce both energy bills and a company’s demands on the electricity grid and ultimately its impact on the planet.
